Travel

     Taiwan's total land area is only about 36,000 square kilometers. It is shaped like a whale whose back is touching the western edge of the Pacific Ocean. Visa

     For some visitors from several countries , a visa-exempt entry or landing visas might be offered when entering Taiwan. Otherwise, you can apply visitor visas for Taiwan(the Republic of China) from embassies, consulates and other accredited visa-issuing offices abroad. Visitor visas are valid for three months from the date of issue, and good for a single journey for a period of 60 days, but holders may, on good grounds, apply for a maximum of two extensions, each for 60 days. International Airports

     There are two international airports in Taiwan: Taiwan Taoyuan Int'l Airport in Taoyuan (about 40 KM from Taipei City), and Hsiao-Kang Airport in Kaohsiung. Direct flights between Taiwan and other countries provide convenient services. Except for some flights to and from between Taiwan and Hong Kong as well as South East Asia land in Hsiao-Kang Airport, most international flights all land in Taiwan Taoyuan Int'l Airport.
     To visit Taipei, your flight normally will land in Taiwan Taoyuan Int'l Airport. It is convenient from Taiwan Taoyuan Int'l Airport to Taipei. Please check the airport transportation web page for more information.

Currency

     The New Taiwan Dollar (NT$) is the national currency. One US dollar is equal to about 33 NT dollars. However, the exchange rate is float. You might use the Currency Converter to check the exchange rate that corresponds to your local currency.
